For smooth skin finish, use of base is a must make up step, however with dark skin tones, it is essential to choose the right shade and make sure that the base does not make you look ashen or pale. Most significantly, the base should complement your skin’s undertone. Stick with colours that are muted to avoid looking over the top. To improve dark skin tone, use a base that is light in texture. There is variety of liquid and cream base available in market that works best for the gloomy skin.  When applying base make sure to blend it correctly to avoid any uneven tone.

Concealer:

If there is the need to accurate any discoloration of skin or hide some of your facial faults, then it is suggested to use an orange or red-based concealer to make safe the darkness. After using the concealer do not forget to set it lightly with loose powder.

Blush:

Peachy coral, deep orange and burnt pink blush colors on the cheeks look the finest on dark complexions as it adds warmth to the skin. Such shades will show through the skin tone, creating a fine flush on the cheeks. If the shade of the blush is not showing up on your dim skin tone, then it is suggested to use a crème blush under it to enhance the intensity. One is advised to keep away from very brown tones as they might make one look washed out.

Lipstick:

Reds with burgundy and browns are brilliant tones to work with for dark skin. Dark burgundy lipstick shades straight away add glam to lips. If you are using a lip liner with your lipstick then it is suggested using one that is close to the shade of your lipstick to stay away from a dark outline. Those having dark skin should avoid pale, frosty lipstick colours as it looks unattractive on dark skin. For a glossy look you can use clear lip gloss on top of your lipstick shade. Gloss in pinks and corals are the best choice to choose. Some dark skin tones can carry bright reds well. Stay away from lipsticks with a frosty finish or ones that are too glossy.

Lip liner:

Those having gloomy skin can use lip liner to play with their natural mouth shape. To make lips look fuller, use a lip liner to draw just outside the usual shape of your lips. On the other hand to make lips show less full, use a darker lip liner in a neutral tone to line just within the natural lip line.

Eye shadow:

While applying eye makeup, it is better to stay away from light, powdery and bright coloured eye shadow. Dark skin is one of the best tones to work a smoky eye on. It is suggested to use eye shadow in dark browns, green, deep purple, copper, prunes and burgundy shades. You can blend a dark eye shadow color into your crease to create a smoky eye look. Therefore, shades of grey and brown to create a dramatic misty look would look outstanding.
