Jaundice
is another ailment of moderate climate. It is an infectious illness mostly
caused by viruses. Poor sanitation and personal hygiene play vital role in the
spread of disease from sick to healthy person. It presents with mild fever, loss
of appetite, yellow eye & skin, abdominal pain, lethargy, severe vomiting,
orange-red colored urine & constipation. Hunger is the earliest sign of
recovery. If properly managed, the dreadful complications can be avoided.

· Take plenty of
liquids like water, milk & Juices sip by sip during early phase of nausea
and vomiting.
· Avoid
carbonated fizzy drinks and juices extracted
openly.
· Take
semi-solid diet like yoghurt, custard, porridge, etc ., little in quantity
frequently.
· Avoid spicy,
fried and fatty food till complete recovery.
· Avoid
substandard unpacked juices and food.
· Isolate the
patient and keep the personal belongings, utensils and bedding linen
separate.
· Ensure proper
cleaning of utensils and linen of patient with detergent separately.
· Wash hands
thoroughly with soap after attending such patients.
· Stay inside
and avoid physical and mental exertion.
· Drowsiness,
persistent vomiting, high grade fever and constipation are bad signs, requiring
immediate medical care.
