What is Diabetes Mellitus and how we cure from this

  What is Diabetes Mellitus

Diabetes mellitus, often simply referred to as diabetes, is a group of metabolic diseases in which a person has high blood sugar, either because the body does not produce enough insulin, or because cells do not respond to the insulin that is produced. The high blood sugar produces the classical symptoms of polyuria (frequent urination), polydipsia (increased thirst) and polyphagia (increased hunger).
Types of Diabetes Mellitus
There are two main types of diabetes:
Type 1 diabetes: results from the body's failure to produce insulin, and presently requires the person to inject insulin.
Type 2 diabetes: results from insulin resistance, a condition in which cells fail to use insulin properly, sometimes combined with an absolute insulin deficiency

Though Type 1 diabetes cannot be prevented, Type 2 diabetes can be offset by making lifestyle changes- maintaining weight, eating healthy and regular exercise.
Importance of Foot care

Foot care in DM patients is very important .Foot problems are a general complication in people with DM. Fortunately, a good number of these complications can be prevented with careful foot care. If complications do arise, daily proper attention will ensure that they are detected before they become serious. It may take time and effort to build excellent foot care habits, but self-care is very essential. In fact, when it comes to foot care, the patient is a very important member of the medical team.
